The smallest MagSafe iPhone ever made

Apple built magnets into the iPhone 12 generation and discontinued the mini after the 13. That combination only ever existed twice, and the 12 mini was the first of them a 5.4-inch, 133-gram phone that snaps onto a magnetic charger, car mount or power bank. No iPhone since has been anywhere near this small.

If battery life is what frustrates you about this phone, and for most 12 mini owners it is, a magnetic power bank is the fix worth knowing about. It attaches to the back and comes off in a second, which suits a phone chosen for pocketability far better than carrying a cable. For that to work the case needs a magnet ring of its own or a slim enough profile to let the phone's own magnets reach through.

Do not buy a 13 mini case

The 12 mini and 13 mini are both 5.4 inches, both have a dual camera set diagonally, both use an aluminium frame with a Lightning port, and both support MagSafe. They are extremely difficult to tell apart, and the wrong case will slide on without resistance.

The difference is in the details: the 13 mini has larger camera lenses and a smaller notch, so its cutouts sit wrong on a 12 mini. Check under Settings > General > About before ordering, and treat any listing that claims to fit "12/13 mini" with caution.
