A case that adds magnetic mounting your phone does not have

This is the main reason to look at the Elegant Series on an S23 Ultra. Samsung did not build magnets into this handset unlike iPhone, where the ring sits behind the back glass, Galaxy phones of this generation rely on the case to supply it.

So a magnetic case here is not passing something through; it is giving the phone a capability it never shipped with. Fit one and the S23 Ultra will snap onto a magnetic car mount, hold a magnetic power bank on the back, and self-align on a wireless charger instead of needing to be positioned by hand. Without it, you get flat-pad charging and nothing else.

It is worth knowing that a stick-on magnetic ring is the only alternative, and it is a poorer one adhesive rings drift off-centre over time and sit proud of the back, which stops the phone lying flat.

Do not assume an S24 Ultra case will fit

These two are easy to confuse. Both are around 6.8 inches, both run four rear lenses with no camera housing, and both store an S Pen in the body. But the S24 Ultra moved to a flat display and a squared titanium frame where the S23 Ultra has curved edges, so the cases do not cross in either direction.

Check under Settings > About phone and match the exact name including Ultra. The S23 Plus and standard S23 are different bodies again, so a listing claiming to fit "the S23 series" will not fit this phone.

What a case needs to do on this model

The S23 Ultra is a large, heavy phone with curved display edges, and the curve is the thing to pay attention to. A case needs a lip that rises past the curve without interfering with edge swipes too shallow and the glass still meets the ground in a face-down drop, too aggressive and the screen becomes awkward to use.

The S Pen silo also has to stay clear, so stick to cases cut specifically for this model rather than anything sold as a universal fit for large Galaxy handsets. And with four exposed lenses sitting proud of the back, a raised camera edge matters more here than on a phone with a recessed module the lenses take the contact every time the phone goes face-up on a table.
