iPhone 16e Cases

The 16e does not share cases with any other iPhone

The iPhone 16e is the only model in the current range with a single rear camera, so its cutout is unique. It is close to the iPhone 14 in footprint, which leads people to assume the cases interchange they do not, because the 14 has a dual lens array. It also lacks the Camera Control found on the iPhone 16, 16 Plus, 16 Pro and 16 Pro Max, so cases from the rest of the generation will not sit correctly either. Only a case cut specifically for the 16e will fit.

Wireless charging and magnetic mounts

This is the detail most 16e owners find out too late. Unlike every other current iPhone, the 16e has no MagSafe magnet ring built in. It charges wirelessly on a standard Qi pad, but it will not snap to a magnetic car mount, a magnetic power bank or a MagSafe stand on its own.

There are two ways around it. Choose a case with a magnetic ring moulded into it, which gives the phone magnetic mounting the handset itself does not have, or add a separate magnetic ring to a case you already own. Either works, but the built-in version stays aligned better over time adhesive rings tend to shift and sit off-centre.

What to look for

Beyond fit, the usual considerations apply. A raised lip around the screen and camera is the most useful feature on any case it is what stops a face-down drop from reaching the glass.
