iPhone 7 Plus Cases

iPhone 8 Plus cases fit your 7 Plus

Worth checking before you settle for what is on this page. The iPhone 7 Plus and iPhone 8 Plus are dimensionally identical 158.2 by 77.9 by 7.5 millimetres, both of them with the same horizontal dual camera in the same position, the same home button, and the same speaker and port layout. A case cut for either one fits the other.

On a phone this age that roughly doubles what is available to you, so browse iPhone 8 Plus cases alongside this page rather than assuming you have seen the full range.

Check the port cutout

The 7 Plus was the first iPhone without a headphone jack, which means you charge and listen through the same Lightning port. If you use a Lightning adapter, a splitter or anything other than Apple's own cable, the port opening on the case matters more here than on a phone with a separate jack. A deep or narrow cutout will stop a third-party connector seating properly.

It is worth a look at the product photos before ordering, particularly on thicker rugged cases where the shell is deepest at the base.

No wireless charging on this one

This is the practical difference between the 7 Plus and the 8 Plus, and it catches people out because the two are otherwise the same phone. The 7 Plus has an aluminium back. The 8 Plus moved to glass specifically so it could charge wirelessly. Your 7 Plus charges by cable only, so a case does not need to be thin enough for a charging pad to reach through you can choose a thicker, more protective option without losing anything.

It also has no magnets, since Apple did not add those until the iPhone 12. If you want magnetic car mounting, either choose a case with a magnet ring moulded in or add a separate magnetic ring to a flat-backed case you already own.

What matters on a ten-year-old phone

The 7 Plus launched in 2016 and introduced the dual camera that made Portrait mode possible. Plenty are still running, and at this stage a case is keeping a working phone in service rather than preserving a new one.

That favours the practical over the decorative. A raised front lip is what keeps the glass off the ground in a face-down drop, and a Plus-sized screen repair still costs more than most people want to put into a handset this old. The aluminium back gives better grip than the glass models that followed, so texture is less critical here than on an 8 Plus. Leather flip cases protect the display directly with the cover, and wallet options start at $25 with three card slots, a coin compartment in the lining and a magnetic closure the full range is in Hanman phone cases.
