iPhone 7 Plus cases fit your 8 Plus

Worth knowing before you go looking elsewhere. The iPhone 7 Plus and iPhone 8 Plus are dimensionally identical 158.2 by 77.9 by 7.5 millimetres, both of them with the same horizontal dual camera in the same position, the same home button, and the same speaker and port layout. Anything cut for a 7 Plus fits an 8 Plus and the reverse holds too.

On a handset this age that effectively doubles what is available to you, so it is worth checking iPhone 7 Plus cases as well as this page rather than assuming you have seen everything.

What will not fit

The 6 Plus and 6s Plus are the ones to watch. All four Plus models from that era look broadly alike at a glance, but the 6 Plus and 6s Plus are a different size again and carry a single rear camera rather than a dual. A 6 Plus case on an 8 Plus will not close around the camera housing.

Check under Settings > General > About before ordering. A listing that says "7 Plus / 8 Plus" is reliable; one that says "6 Plus to 8 Plus" is not.

Your 8 Plus charges wirelessly

A lot of owners do not realise this. The iPhone 8, 8 Plus and X were the first iPhones Apple built with wireless charging that glass back was the whole reason for the redesign. Drop the phone on a standard Qi pad and it charges, no cable needed, and most cases are thin enough for it to work through.

What it does not have is magnets. Apple did not add those until the iPhone 12, so the 8 Plus will not snap onto a magnetic charger, car mount or power bank on its own. If you want magnetic mounting, either choose a case with a magnet ring moulded in, or add a separate magnetic ring to a flat-backed case you already own.

Why people are still on this phone

The 8 Plus is the last large iPhone with a home button and Touch ID. For plenty of owners that is not inertia it is a deliberate choice, and no newer model offers it. That changes what a case needs to do here: it is protecting a phone someone intends to keep running, not bridging the gap to an upgrade.

The practical features matter most.
