A leather-led range for a phone people have kept

The iPhone 13 Pro Max is five years old and still in daily use across New Zealand it was the first iPhone with a 120Hz ProMotion display and held the battery-life record for its generation, which is why so many owners have never felt the need to upgrade. Two HDD options sit alongside them. The Lychee Pattern Leather at $35 uses a textured lychee grain with a rose gold metal trim line the most decorative case in the range. The One Second Auto-alignment Cooling MagSafe at $40 is the technical one: leather with a built-in magnet array that aligns instantly on a charger, plus heat dissipation built into the back, which matters if you charge wirelessly overnight or game on the phone.

Getting the fit right

Six iPhones share a 6.7-inch display, and the 13 Pro Max is the oldest of them. The pair most often confused is the 13 Pro Max and the 14 Pro Max same size, same triple camera, same stainless steel frame, same Lightning port. The difference is the camera array: the 14 Pro moved to a 48-megapixel main sensor and the bump grew with it, so a 13 Pro Max case will not close around a 14 Pro Max, and a 14 Pro Max case leaves a gap on a 13. Check under Settings > General > About before ordering.

MagSafe and weight

The 13 Pro Max has MagSafe magnets built in, and the magnetic cases here snap cleanly to chargers, car mounts and power banks. At 238 grams this is one of the heaviest iPhones ever made, so magnet strength is worth checking if you use a dashboard mount and a leather case earns its place partly on grip, which glass and smooth plastic do not give you on a phone this heavy.
