iPhone 16 Plus Cases

The big iPhone that is not a Pro

At 6.7 inches, the iPhone 16 Plus is the largest non-Pro model Apple makes and it gets confused with the 16 Pro Max constantly, since both are the big option in their tier. They are not the same size. The Pro Max is 6.9 inches, and cases do not cross between them. The standard 16 at 6.1 inches is no closer. Check the exact model under Settings > General > About before ordering.

Like the rest of the generation, the 16 Plus has the Camera Control on the right edge. It is capacitive rather than mechanical, so a case must leave it exposed or use a conductive pass-through solid plastic across it stops it working. Every case here is cut for the model, but worth checking anywhere else.

Why clear cases make more sense on this model

The Pro models come in titanium finishes; the 16 Plus comes in ultramarine, teal, pink and the brighter end of the range. If you chose one of those colours, an opaque case undoes the reason you picked it. That is why half the range here is transparent.

The Soft TPU Shockproof Clear is the simplest option at $20 and keeps bulk to a minimum. The Feather Series is slimmer again. The Transparent Airbag Shockproof case is the one to look at if you want clarity without compromise hidden airbags in all four corners, aluminium alloy buttons rather than moulded plastic, and 2.5mm raised edges around both the screen and the camera. That is roughly double the clearance most clear cases give you, and it is what keeps the glass off the table.

With any clear case, check it uses anti-yellowing construction. Untreated TPU turns amber within a few months, faster under New Zealand sun.

Magnetic mounting and stands

The 16 Plus has MagSafe magnets built in, so a case with a matching ring snaps cleanly to chargers, car mounts and magnetic power banks. On a 6.7-inch phone that matters more than usual a weak magnetic hold will not keep a screen this size steady on a dashboard mount. The Mountain River Series adds a lens stand at $39, and the Elvis Series at $50 builds in an invisible fold-out bracket with hard PC and soft TPU construction plus 1.2mm raised bezels, which is the pick if you watch a lot on the phone and want all-round protection with it.

Screen protection and related collections

Tempered glass and camera lens covers for this handset sit alongside the rest of the generation in iPhone 16 series cases and screen protectors worth adding, since a 6.7-inch panel is one of the more expensive screens to replace. For the Pro models, see iPhone 16 Pro cases or iPhone 16 Pro Max cases. Across every generation, browse all iPhone cases or go straight to your handset via shop cases by model.
