The iPhone 15 Pro Max has more cases available here than any iPhone 16 model. It is a few generations old now, but it remains one of the most widely used handsets in New Zealand, and the range reflects that over thirty options spanning every style and price point rather than the handful most retailers keep for an older phone.

Getting the fit right

The 15 Pro Max and the 15 Plus are both 6.7 inches, which catches people out. They are not interchangeable: the Pro Max has a triple camera array against the Plus's dual, and the Action button in place of the mute switch. Upgrading from a 15 Pro Max to a 16 Pro Max does not carry your case across either, since that model moved to 6.9 inches. Check the exact name under Settings > General > About before ordering.

What is in the range

Cases run from $25 to $55. At the entry end, the X-Level Fresh Wind hard shell adds a silicone coating for grip at $25, and the Crystal Shield Series keeps the titanium finish visible with hidden airbags in all four corners and an anti-oxidation inner layer that resists yellowing and watermarking.

The $35 tier is the widest: the Brace Series for ultra-thin magnetic mounting, the Carbide Series in carbon fibre with an anti-fingerprint finish, the Clarity Series for a clean matte back, and the Mountain River Series with a built-in lens stand. The AuraFlow at $39 uses liquid silicone for grip, which is worth considering on a 221-gram phone.

Two options stand apart. The Hanman Mich Series at $39 is a leather crossbody wallet a strap-carry design rather than a pocket case, and the only hands-free option in the range. The Redpepper IP68 at $55 is a fully sealed waterproof case rated to two metres of submersion, not splash resistance. If you are near water regularly, nothing else here comes close.

MagSafe and the titanium finish

The 15 Pro Max has MagSafe magnets built in, and most cases here carry a matching ring so the phone snaps cleanly to chargers, car mounts and magnetic power banks. At 221 grams, magnet strength matters more than it does on a smaller handset a weak hold will not keep this phone steady on a dashboard mount. If you chose the phone for its brushed titanium, the Crystal Shield and other clear options keep it visible; just check for anti-yellowing construction, since untreated TPU ambers within months under New Zealand sun.
